Automotive-Grade Certified Magnetic Angle Position Sensor --- AS5270

The AS5270 is a dual-chip, high-resolution angular position sensor designed for precise absolute angle measurement. It offers an analog output interface (AS5270A) or a digital output interface (AS5270B). The latter can be programmed for PWM or SENT-compatible output interfaces.

Based on Hall sensor technology, this device measures the orthogonal components of the magnetic flux density (Bz) during full-circle rotation and employs a robust architecture based on a 14-bit sensor array and an analog front-end (AFE) to compensate for external stray magnetic fields. Subranges can be programmed to achieve optimal resolution for specific applications. To measure angles, only a simple two-pole magnet rotating at the center of the package is required. The magnet can be placed either above or below the device. Absolute angle measurement provides an instant indication of the magnet's angular position. The AS5270 operates at a 5V supply voltage, with power and output pins protected against overvoltage up to +20V. Additionally, the power pins feature reverse polarity protection up to -20V.

The AS5270A is a stacked dual-chip design for high-reliability redundant operation. In this device, two chips are aligned and encapsulated within the same package. Each chip has separate pins, ensuring that electrical faults in the device do not affect both chips.
