High-Resolution Automotive-Grade Position Sensor --- AS5172B

The AS5172B is a magnetic position sensor with a high-resolution 12-bit PSI5 output, compliant with PSI5 specification versions 1.3 and 2.1.

Based on Hall sensor technology, this device measures the orthogonal component of the magnetic flux density (Bz) during full-circle rotation and employs a robust architecture with a 14-bit sensor array and analog front-end (AFE) to compensate for external stray magnetic fields. The sub-range can be programmed to achieve optimal resolution for specific applications. To measure angles, only a simple two-pole magnet rotating at the center of the package is required. The magnet can be placed either above or below the device. Absolute angle measurement provides an instant indication of the magnet's angular position. The AS5172B operates at voltages up to 16.5V and is protected against overvoltage up to +20V. Additionally, the power supply pins are protected against reverse polarity at voltages up to -18V.
